The barrier optimizer offers an approach particularly efficient on large, sparse problems (for example, more than 1000 rows or columns, and no more than perhaps a dozen nonzeros per column). The barrier optimizer is sufficiently different in nature from the other optimizers that it is discussed in detail in the next chapter, Chapter 9, Solving LPs: Barrier Optimizer.
